Hope for Dave Lucero; Benefit and other news
Hope For Dave Lucero Cancer has stricken one of our beloved community members. David Lucero is 48 years old and battling colon cancer for the second time. He began remission in 2007, until the beginning of this year (2011) when he was notified of being sick again. Lucero was born and raised in our small town of Brighton. He is also the proud owner of a local business he grew with his wife, Debbie, Lucero Concrete Company. Hardworking and compassionate are two adjectives that easily help describe Dave. His love for the community shines in different areas. Dave also has served on the Brighton High School Football Booster Club for the years that his son has played. He is the father of four children Michael 22, Jeromy 18, and Briana and Bailee nine-year-old twins Since the new diagnosis of cancer being back in his body this year it is the first time he has missed any of Jeromy’s football games. Dave is a sweet and gentle man to anyone he meets, he always has a smile on his face and is happy to lend a helping hand to anyone. Dave is a man that is a true Brighton resident. On October 15, 2011 many fundraising events will be begin in order to raise money for a new method of cancer treatment. Dave’s insurance won’t cover the amount of money (more than $30,000) needed to obtain the treatment. This method is called intra-peritoneal hyper thermic chemotherapy; it works by flushing a heated chemotherapy drug through the tissue. The friends and family that are working to get these benefit events together would gladly appreciate any donations possible, including auctionable items, volunteers, or money. There has also been a bank account established at Wells Fargo, called the Dave Lucero Donation Account. Anything is gladly appreciated. Thank you for your time!
